Resumo Avaliaram-se o valor nutritivo e as características bromatológicas de silagens de capim-elefante (CE), cultivar mineiro, cortado aos 70 dias de rebrota, com adição de quatro níveis de casca de café (1-CE; 2-CE + 10%; 3-CE + 20% e 4-CE + 30%). Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados com quatro tratamentos e seis repetições. Foram determinados nas silagens os teores de lignina, celulose, cafeína, DIVMS, pH, N-NH3 e as perdas de efluente e gás. Os valores de MS aumentaram enquanto o pH reduziu linearmente com o aumento da casca de café na silagem de capim elefante. A produção de efluente ocorreu somente na silagem sem casca de café nos cinco primeiros dias, com maior produção nos três primeiros. Os valores de N-NH3 decresceram linearmente com o aumento da casca de café. Houve aumento do teor de PB à medida do aumento da casca de café. Houve aumento de FDN e redução FDA e DIVMS linear com o aumento da casca de café. Esses resultados mostram que a casca de café como aditivo foi efetivo em melhorar as características da silagem de capim-elefante cortado aos 70 dias de idade.

Abstract We evaluated the nutritional value and the bromatological characteristics of elephant grass (EG) silages, cut at 70 days of regrowth, adding four levels of coffee hulls (1-EG; 2-EG + 10%; 3-EG + 20%; and 4-EG + 30%). A randomized block design with four treatments and six replicates was used. The lignin, cellulose, caffeine, IVDDM, pH, N-NH3 and effluent and gas losses were determined in the silages. The DM values increased as pH decreased linearly with the increase of coffee hulls in EG silage. The effluent production occurred only in the silage without coffee hulls on the first five days, with higher production on the first three days. The N-NH3 values decreased linearly with the increase of the coffee hulls. There was an increase in CP content as the coffee hulls increased. There was an increase of NDF and reduction of the ADF and IVDDM linear decrease with the increase of the coffee hulls. These results show that the coffee hulls as an additive was effective in improving the characteristics of elephant grass silage cut at 70 days of age

O resíduo proveniente do beneficiamento do algodão em lixadeiras na indústria têxtil é um material rico em lignocelulose, tem baixa digestibilidade e é pobre em proteínas e minerais, o que dificulta seu uso 'in natura' na alimentação de ruminantes. Neste tarbalho, objetivou-se avaliar a produtividade e eficiência biológica deste resíduo de algodão na produção do cogumelo comestível Pleurotus sajor-caju e avaliar as alterações promovidas no resíduo para alimentação de ruminantes. Foram realizados 5 tratamentos: T1- 80% de serragem de eucalipto + 20% de farelo de trigo (testemunha); T2- 50% de resíduo de algodão + 50% de serragem; T3- 45% de resíduo + 45% serragem + 10% de farelo; T4- 40% de resíduo + 40% serragem + 20% de farelo e T5- 80% de resíduo + 20% de farelo. O T5 apresentou os melhores resultados para produtividade (22,46%) e eficiência biológica (71,48%) do Pleurotus sajor-caju. O fungo alterou a constituição dos substratos nos estágios de produção do cogumelo, principalmente os constituintes da fibra e agregou N ao substrato. Dessa forma, o uso do resíduo de lixadeira de algodão no cultivo de Pleurotus sajor-caju pode se tornar uma alternativa viável para produção de cogumelo e melhorar a qualidade deste resíduo para alimentação animal.

The waste coming from cotton processing in mills in the textile industry is a lignocellulose-rich material, but has low digestibility, and is poor in proteins and minerals, making it inappropriate for ruminant feeding. This study was intended to evaluate the productivity and biologic efficiency of cotton textile mill waste in the production of the edible mushroom Pleurotus sajor-caju, and to evaluate the alterations brought about in the waste for use in ruminant feeding. Five treatments were undertaken in the following manner: T1- 80% eucalyptus sawdust + 20% wheat bran (control); T2- 50% waste + 50% sawdust; T3- 45% waste + 45% sawdust + 10% wheat bran; T4- 40% waste + 40% sawdust + 20% wheat bran and T5- 80% waste + 20% wheat bran. T5 showed the best results for productivity (22.46%) and biologic efficiency (71.48%). Fungus altered the constitution of the substrates in the stages of production of the mushroom. Therefore, the use of cotton textile mill waste in the cultivation of Pleurotus sajor-caju may become a viable alternative for mushroom production, and also improve the quality of this waste for use in animal feeding.

Conduziu-se, no presente trabalho, avaliar o efeito de suplementos à base de nitrogênio não protéico (NNP), nas formas de uréia, amiréia e bloco multinutricional, sobre o ganho de peso e análise de custos para bovinos de corte mantidos a pasto. Durante um período de 104 dias (abril a julho de 2004), 40 animais machos, sem raça definida, não castrados, com peso médio inicial de 379 Kg, foram alocados em 4 piquetes de Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu, em sistema de pastejo contínuo, recebendo em cochos coletivos os seguintes tratamentos: sal mineral (controle), suplemento protéico contendo amiréia, suplemento protéico contendo uréia e bloco multinutricional. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados com repetição dentro do bloco. Os resultados de disponibilidade e composição bromatológica da pastagem, consumo dos suplementos e ganho de peso diário dos animais, foram avaliados em dois subperíodos experimentais: 0 a 45 dias e 45 a 90 dias. No primeiro subperíodo, não houve efeito dos tratamentos (P>0,05) no ganho de peso diário, mas no segundo subperíodo, o bloco multinutricional apresentou menor ganho de peso (P<0,05) do que os que foram similares entre si, sendo 0,60; 0,59; 0,61 e 0,22 Kg/animal/dia, respectivamente, nos tratamentos com sal mineral, amiréia, uréia e bloco multinutricional. Diante das condições edafo-climáticas, época e duração do experimento, a suplementação apenas com sal mineral resultou em melhor retorno econômico.

This work was carried out to evaluate the effect of supplements based on non-protein nitrogen (NPN) as: urea, amirea and multinutritional block, on live weight gain and cost analysis for cattle kept in pastures. During a period of 104 days(April to July 2004), 40 crossbreed bulls, uncastrated and initial average weight of 379kg, were allocated into 4 paddocks with Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu, in continuous pasture system receiving, in troughs, the following treatments: mineral salt (control), protein supplement containing amirea, protein supplement containing urea and multinutritional block. The experimental design used was randomized blocks with repetition within the block. Results of availability bromatological composition of pasture, supplement consumption and daily weight gain of animals were evaluated in two experimental sub-periods: 0 to 45 and 45 to 90 days. In the first sub-period, there was no effect of treatments (P>0.05) on daily weight gain but in the second sub-period, the multinutritional block showed smaller (P<0.05) weight gain than the ones which were similar among themselves, being: 0.60; 0.59; 0.61 and 0.22kg/animal/day, respectively, for the treatments with mineral salt, amirea, urea and multinutritional block. Before these edafoclimatic conditions, the period and duration of the experiment, the supplementation with mineral salt provided the higher profit.

O presente trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar o real potencial da amiréia 150S comparada com mistura equivalente em uréia, milho moído e flor de enxofre, como ingredientes em misturas múltiplas para bovinos de corte no pasto. Foram utilizados 40 bezerros sem raça definida, com peso médio de 167 Kg, no período das águas, e 40 bezerros sem raça definida, com peso médio de 285 Kg, no período seco. Os tratamentos foram baseados na amiréia 150S e mistura equivalente em milho moído, uréia e flor de enxofre com núcleo mineral e sal, sendo esse em dois níveis para regular consumo. As misturas formuladas foram amiréia com 8,75% de sal (AM-8,75), uréia com 8,75% de sal (UR-8,75), amiréia com 17,50% de sal (UR-17,50) e uréia com 17,50% de sal (UR-17,50). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados com repetição dentro dos blocos experimentais. Avaliaram-se o desempenho e o consumo das misturas dos animais nas fases das águas e seca. Não foi encontrada diferença para ganho de peso (GP) e ganho de peso médio diário (GPMD) entre os tratamentos na fase das águas, na qual se pôde observar uma melhor qualidade da forragem nos piquetes. No período seco, quando a qualidade do capim foi inferior à do período das águas, houve diferença significativa para GP e GPMD, ou seja, observaram-se melhores desempenhos para os animais que receberam misturas com amiréia 150S do que para os animais que receberam misturas com uréia.

The present work was carried out with the objective to evaluate the real potential of the amireia 150S compared with equivalent mixture with urea, corn ground and sulfur flower as ingredients in multiple mixtures for grazing beef cattle. It was used 40 calves without defined breed with average weight of 167 Kg in the raining season and 40 calves without defined breed with average weight of 285 Kg in the dry season. The animals were distributed in paddocks of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu and were separated by electrified fence and each paddock possessed covered hod and individual drinking fountain. The treatments were based in the amireia 150S and equivalent mixture with ground corn, urea and sulfur flower with mineral nucleus and salt being these two levels used to regulate consumption. The formulated mixtures were amireia with 8.75% of salt (AM - 8.75), urea with 8.75% of salt (UR - 8.75), amireia with 17.5% of salt (UR - 17.50) and urea with 17.5% of salt (UR - 17.50). The experimental design used was randomized blocks with repetition inside; the 40 animals of each phase were divided in 5 blocks in function of the initial weight and then they were allocated randomly in the 4 paddocks where the animals received the treatments at random. It was evaluated the performance and consumption of the mixtures offered to the animals in the raining and dry seasons. It was not found significant difference for weight gain (GP) and average daily weight gain (GPMD) among the treatments in the raining season in which a better quality of the forage can be observed in the paddocks. In the dry season where the grass quality was inferior when compared to that of the raining season there was significant difference for GP and GPMD in which was observed best performance for the animals who received mixtures with amireia 150S in relation to the animals that received mixtures with urea.
